Before we can catch our breath from The Masters, the PGA Tour heads to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage, which is serving as a designated event this season.
That means the RBC Heritage will host the strongest field in its history, with the majority of competitors from the Masters last week playing in back-to-back weeks.
In this article, I’m going to rank the top 10 golfers to win, based on my opinion as well as the betting odds.
Let’s dive into it.
RBC Heritage Power Ranking
1) Scottie Scheffler +750
Despite Jon Rahm winning The Masters and re-claiming the top spot in the Official World Golf Rankings, Scottie Scheffler still played extremely well outside of horrible putting performances in the first two rounds.
Rahm will always have the advantage over Scheffler at courses where his distance off the tee can give him a huge advantage, but that’s not the case at Harbour Town, where finesse reins supreme.
2) Jon Rahm +800
Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm are a step above the rest in the golf world and there’s no question about that statement. They may just spend all season alternating the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking.
3) Collin Morikawa +1800
Collin Morikawa’s strong iron play automatically makes him a top contender at Harbour Town and he had a solid showing at The Masters last week. As long as his putter holds up, he could be in contention come Sunday.
4) Patrick Cantlay +1200
Patrick Cantlay was third in the field at The Masters in strokes gained: tee-to-green, which is a promising sign ahead of the RBC Heritage. His putting let him down at Augusta and that could be the case again this week, but if he has a solid weekend putting then he can hang with Rahm and Scheffler.
5) Jordan Spieth +2000
Jordan Spieth is the defending champion at the event which automatically makes him a top contender this week. he also had a 7th place finish at the Masters last week, so he’s clearly in good form as he attempts to successfully defend his championship.
6) Xander Schauffele +2500
Xander Schauffele’s game is well-rounded and now that he’s competing at a non-major, he may actually have a chance to win. You won’t be able to find a weakness in his game.
7) Viktor Hovland +2200
Viktor Hovland impressed at Augusta National before stumbling in the final round. His iron game is unmatched, but he struggled around the greens at times with his chipping. It cost him again at Augusta, but he did technically gain +0.17 strokes in that area so it could be starting to trend in the right direction.
8) Cameron Young +2000
Cameron Young’s driving and approach play is near unmatched, but his putting falters at time, ranking 183rd in strokes gained: putting this season. He seems to bring it the most at Majors, so with this being a normal event, I don’t expect him to win on Sunday. With that being said, you can’t ignore his ball striking.
9) Shane Lowry +3000
Shane Lowry quietly had a solid T16 finish at The Masters and his approach play has been dialed in this season. He also has a great history at this course, boasting two 3rd place finishes and a 9th place finish over the past four years.
10) Max Homa +2500
Max Homa still needs to figure things out at major tournaments, but this isn’t one of those so Homa should be in good shape to compete this week. He’s still statistically one of the best golfers on Tour, which inherently gives him a ton of betting value at +2500.
