Notre Dame running back C’Bo Flemister faces misdemeanor charges related to his actions after crashing his car in South Bend in April.
Notre Dame running back C’Bo Flemister faces potential jail time because of a recent car crash in South Bend.
Local station 16 News Now reported that Flemister was recently charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
According to the police report, Flemister allegedly crashed his BMW into a concrete median on Apr. 25. When police arrived, they found the car abandoned, airbags deployed and keys missing.
While initially denying his involvement, during a police interview on May 3, the player “admitted to driving the car and leaving before police arrived.”
This was no fender bender either. The police estimate the damage will cost between $10,001-$25,000. A conviction could come with jail time as long as 180 days and a maximum fine of $1,000.
Notre Dame addressed the incident, saying the university is aware of the situation and trusts local authorities to handle it appropriately. An internal review will follow.
“When made aware of incidents such as this, the University conducts its own review to determine if any student behavior policies were violated. In accord with federal law, these reviews are handled privately,” the statement read.
C’Bo Flemister was a third option for Notre Dame in 2020
Flemister was Notre Dame’s third-leading running back in 2020 with 58 carries for 299 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 5.16 yards per carry.
The senior rusher was slated to return in 2021 as a member of the rotation behind Kyren Williams and Chris Tyree.
His status for the coming season relative to these charges is yet to be determined.
