Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl: Georgia (-6.5) vs. Cincinnati
The Georgia Bulldogs have been dealing with quarterback uncertainty all season long. Three different players took snaps for the Bulldogs, and none of them were Jamie Newman who was supposed to be the starter before he sat out for the season. Meanwhile, Cincinnati has been disrespected by the playoff committee all season. One has all the motivation in the world to make noise, and another has nothing to play for. This has played out before with UCF.
Vrbo Citrus Bowl: Northwestern (-3.5) vs Auburn
Auburn is without a head coach for this game. Auburn is definitely the more talented of the two teams, but with so many headlines surrounding the exit of Gus Malzahn, can the Tigers get a gameplan together and focus on Northwestern? This isn’t like a major contest. Auburn will just want to get to the offseason, and that will show.
Rose Bowl Game Presented by Capital One – CFP Semifinal: Alabama (-20.5) vs. Notre Dame
Alabama is far better than Notre Dame. Alabama looks like it’s far better than anyone in the country. Notre Dame got destroyed by a Clemson team it beat without Trevor Lawrence earlier in the season. It still made its way into the College Football Playoff. However, the Crimson Tide have the advantage at just about every position. This one will be over quickly.
Allstate Sugar Bowl – CFP Semifinal: Clemson (-6.5) vs. Ohio State
This one might be the most fun bowl game in a long time. Clemson and Ohio State have great offenses. These two teams faced off in last year’s semi-final, where Clemson scored a go-ahead touchdown with less than two minutes left and Justin Fields threw an interception on his attempted comeback. This year, they are very similar teams. Clemson needs to pressure Fields, as he’s been more prone to mistakes this season. He will throw a back-breaking interception again, only this time it will help cover the spread.
TaxSlayer Gator Bowl: NC State (-3) vs. Kentucky
Outback Bowl: Indiana (-8) vs. Ole Miss
PlayStation Fiesta Bowl: Oregon (-5.5) vs. Iowa State
Oregon was given a gift of an invitation to the Pac 12 Title Game, and the Ducks took advantage. They beat USC, winning the conference despite not winning either division (Washington was forced to drop out of the game). Now, they are getting 5.5 points in the Fiesta Bowl. Iowa State made a major mistake that ended up losing them the Big 12 Championship. Now, Brock Purdy and Breece Hall have something to prove before they both likely go to the NFL Draft. It’s also their first New Year’s Six bowl in program history.
Capital One Orange Bowl: Texas A&M (-6) vs. North Carolina
Texas A&M feels slighted after they were left out of the College Football Playoff. Kellen Mond called it a joke, but now he needs to come into the Orange Bowl motivated to show that the committee made a mistake. North Carolina has been mostly disappointing this season. Sam Howell will likely get a few deep shots in. However, Mond is going to run all day on his way to a college career-ending win.
